Click to enlarge if you have a fast connection Steel Magnolias, playing May 6-8 at Corbin Theatre in downtown Liberty, explores the dynamics of life, love, and laughter in a small-town Louisiana beauty parlour as six southern women learn to embrace the future and all of its uncertainties. Truvy, the outspoken owner, dispenses shampoos and free advice to her clients, who gather each week to talk, gab, gossip, chitchat, needle and harangue each other through the best times - and cry, comfort, caress, and repair each other through the worst. These women are true steel magnolias: southern belles who are flowery on the outside but strong enough on the inside to survive any challenge. Charming, witty, and delightfully entertaining, Steel Magnolias is a bittersweet comedy that reminds all of us that life is a precious gift to celebrate.

The Corbin Theatre has created a policy in response to a "good problem" that we have encountered. This is in regards to people/groups wanting to perform at our Jazz nights, click "more" to learn more
Because of the growing popularity of Jazz on the Square we have developed a "good" problem. So many guest artists want to appear on the show that it has begun to overshadow the regular band. We want to encourage new talent and preserve the spontaneity of the show while keeping the focus on our regular, paid band.
Consequently the board has developed this simple policy. We want to discourage visiting bands simply because of the set up and take down time which can take up 30 minutes of a two hour show. Corbin will assist in promoting a "special" night for other bands who would like to appear. Guest artists will be limited to one, no more than two each performance. Those wanting to appear should contact ahead of time to get on the list. The contact person will be Juarenne Hester, 781-2195. |
